Money Matters for Prep 6

Money Matters for Prep 6

Prep 6 learn all about finance and money matters in their PSHEE lessons.  The children explore how currencies vary around the world, how money has changed in Britain and how the Royal Mint protects money from counterfeit copies.  They then look at topics such as savings and interest; budgeting; how to be a smart consumer; the difference between 'need' and 'want'; credit; debt; and safe banking.  Important life-skills and knowledge that will help them become future ready as they move on to senior school.

Creative Thinkers and Flexible Learners

Creative Thinkers and Flexible Learners

As we believe that more than half of the Prep School pupils will be doing jobs that haven't been invented yet, the future for our children should be incredibly exciting!
Today’s pupils will be successful in their future work if they are able to collaborate with others to figure out creative solutions to new problems. We need to give them the tools to become future ready. Our Executive Function assemblies focus on Organisation, Planning and Prioritisation, Flexibility, Time Management, Emotional Control and Working Memory amongst others and help our pupils become creative thinkers and flexible learners.

Sixth Form – Becoming Future Ready

Sixth Form – Becoming Future Ready

A key part of preparing our Sixth Form students for adult life is ensuring they develop the skills needed for life post education. All students participate in a wide range of personal and professional skills units; including components on health, well-being, personal awareness and communication. We also encourage Sixth Formers to be emotionally intelligent; our Service element focuses on leadership, respect, empathy and sensitivity to others. To broaden students’ outlook and help them become more rounded adults, a series of lectures are delivered by leading figures from every sphere of life. Teachers organise trips to enrich students’ academic experience and a comprehensive and dynamic careers programme helps prepare students for work and higher education.

Aspire and Achieve

Careers education and guidance at The Royal School gives individual, positive support to each pupil, enabling them to aspire and achieve. It is integrated into the curriculum and enhanced by events, activities and input from universities, training providers and employers, as well as valuable additional support from Royal School parents and past pupils. Our careers programme is versatile, relevant and responsive, laying the foundations for ambition and sound decision-making for each individual. Our aim is to ensure they are ready for the next stage in their lives.
