Feel Good 15

At the start of every day, all the Prep School children enjoy a Feel Good 15 session!  Pupils take part in a whole range of activities, including: juggling, football, yoga, skipping and hula hooping!  It is wonderful to see the children so enthused about keeping active and enjoying their physical start to each day.

Easter STEM Day

Easter STEM Day

Our annual Easter STEM day is always much anticipated! Each year group is set an egg-related challenge; Comets decorated and rolled an egg, Prep 1 made egg cups while Prep 2 designed and made a bunk bed for two eggs! The Prep classes' challenges were transport based - Prep 3 made a car for their egg, Prep 4 a boat to carry an egg across the pond (wind provided by a leaf blower!), Prep 5's eggs were dropped 15m from a crane and Prep 6 were tasked with transporting their egg over a distance of 20 metres in any way they saw fit.

The children outdid themselves, coming up with some truly amazing inventions to fulfil the brief.

Outdoor Learning

Outdoor Learning

All pupils at the Prep School enjoy Outdoor Learning sessions in our beautiful grounds and woodland. From Comets exploring the grounds to find icy dinosaur eggs, to Prep 5 searching for evidence of dragon activity, there is endless fun to be had! Learning how to light a fire using a firesteel instead of matches, singing some campfire songs, cooking popcorn or simply sitting round a campfire sipping a hot chocolate and enjoying a story – wonderful!

Sixth Form Bonding Trip

Sixth Form Bonding Trip

The annual Sixth Form bonding trip is always a fantastic way to start the academic year! It involves outdoor activities, such as archery, climbing, kayaking, raft building and general team building games. The time away from school is a great opportunity for the students get to know and to learn about each other, as well as themselves. It is a time filled with fun and laughter!

The Wizard of Oz

The Wizard of Oz

At long last The Royal School Drama department were able to perform in a packed Kilmorey theatre with a spring 2022 production of The Wizard of Oz! After two years of outdoor cabaret filmed performances and Covid related false starts it was a pleasure to hear the hum of excitement fill the theatre as pupils from Year 7 to Upper Sixth (and a live dog!) took to the stage to perform The Wizard of Oz in March.

The production combined live action and footage that had been pre-recorded in the school’s brand new TV studio, perfectly edited and seamlessly blended into the production. The show even got a shout out from Jo Whiley on BBC Radio 2!

Mr Taylor-Gooby, Head of Drama, said, “The talent on display was outstanding and our inclusive approach that still maintains professional standards continues to give our pupils and audiences an outstanding theatrical experience!” It really was a bit of a wiz if ever a wiz there was!
