Peter Beard

Head of Senior Boys' PE

I’m an energetic person who loves sport and being physically active. I like meeting new people and will happily have a conversation with anyone and everyone!

What work experiences led you to the role you are in today?

A passion for coaching that I realised from doing my Sports Leaders award at school and a desire to be outside in the elements.

What’s the most exciting project you’re working on right now? What makes it so interesting?

Introducing hockey to The Royal. Seeing some of the development individuals have been making is incredibly rewarding and hearing the Sixth Form wanting a fixture is great!

What do you love most about your job and why?

Seeing young people love sport. Maybe they’ve not enjoyed it before or not found ‘their’ sport, but when they do it’s fantastic to see.

Who inspires you?

Professional athletes. Mo Farah, Jessica Ennis-Hill and Greg Rutherford in 2012 and those that have returned from injury or faced adversity like David Beckham and Gareth Bale.

Do you have any hidden talents or hobbies?

They’re so hidden I am yet to find them!

What single item would you take on a deserted island?

A photo of my daughters.

What’s your idea of a perfect day?

A brunch at Josie’s, a road cycle to the seafront with a fish and chip dinner - all in the sun!
