The Royal School encourages boys and girls to take part in all the sports we offer. Our specialist staff encourage students to develop a sporting interest that will stay with them for life and help them understand that personal fitness is essential as part of a healthy lifestyle. Through sport, students can grow their self-confidence and self-discipline and improve their leadership and teamwork skills.

The Royal School has excellent facilities and grounds that can accommodate many sports depending on the season including an international standard Lacrosse pitch, rugby, football and cricket pitches, tennis and netball courts, sports hall with viewing gallery, and a fitness gym. The School also takes advantage of local facilities such as Fernhurst Cricket Club and The Haslemere Leisure Centre for swimming.

There are plenty of opportunities to enjoy sport through the curriculum, teams, competitions, clubs and tours. With a challenging and creative fixtures programme and talented and committed coaches, pupils represent the School with pride, enthusiasm and a united spirit.

We actively support a number of pupils who represent local clubs, the county or region and we currently have pupils in the GB Development Squad for Sailing, ISAF U13 Football Squad and county athletics.

I visited other schools and colleges - some were really competitive with lots of students and I knew I wouldn’t get enough sporting opportunities, others were quite laid back and I didn’t think I’d get pushed enough!
