My first day working at The Royal was when I was 12, my mum worked here and she got me a school holiday job mowing the lawns and I was terrible at it! After I finished school I trained to be an actor and as a ‘resting job’ I was able to return to The Royal to help out, I then started to teach 1 or 2 drama lessons per week, I never looked back. I have had lots of different roles over the last 10 years that have led to me becoming the assistant head.

What work experiences led you to the role you are in today?

Drama school and working as a professional actor provided me with the working skills to teach pupils the art of acting and the professionalism and resilience required.

What’s the most exciting project you’re working on right now? What makes it so interesting?

I love working on the transition from Prep into Senior School. It’s such an exciting time for pupils and their parents.

What do you love most about your job and why?

I love The Royal, its history, its values, its place in the world. It’s a truly special place.

Who inspires you?

My mother who was head of The Royal for many years and was/is a principled and committed educationalist.

Do you have any hidden talents or hobbies?

I can clap with 1 hand!
I love cricket, football, theatre – I’m reasonable at each of them.

What single item would you take on a deserted island?

TV with Sky Sports.

What’s your idea of a perfect day?

Playing with my kids in the park followed by a BBQ.
