Little Sailors, the Early Years Foundation Stage Department is very much part of The Royal School Family. As the youngest members of that family we believe it is our role to build the foundations that will enable every child to succeed and make the most of every opportunity offered. Daycare, Nursery and Reception offer your child a positive, friendly and exciting place to start their learning journey.
Children develop and learn in a wide variety of ways. Our team of dedicated Early Years practitioners work hard to provide activities that are enjoyable, drawing on the natural interests of each individual. Our curriculum is broad, allowing the children to explore, learn and come across new and interesting challenges. We provide an inspiring learning environment with full access to the whole school site, including light and airy activity rooms, a stunning library and an indoor gymnasium. The children go outside every day, and regularly take walks in our extensive grounds, through meandering gardens, fields and woodland, often stopping to do a spot of bug-hunting and pond-dipping in our very unique triad of well-stocked ponds.
Specialist teaching is given in French, Sport, Music, Ballet and for the Reception children, also Computing. As employees of the school, the specialist teachers are always on site and get to know the children very well. They continue to teach the children as they carry on into the rest of the Junior School, providing excellent continuity and rapid progress in their development.
Our education and care for young children is underpinned by a secure, caring and Christian ethos that permeates the whole school. Children are happy, confident and eager to learn. Very quickly, the children develop an appreciation of creative, physical and spiritual experiences that enhance their whole being. Bringing out the best in every child, they are encouraged to dip their toes into every puddle and reach for the highest star!
