• Riding and Polo

The School’s enviable location provides access to numerous bridle path networks and commons across three counties, and a number of local livery yards offering excellent facilities for horse and rider. Our outstanding position also sets us amongst some of the country’s most prestigious polo grounds including Cowdray in Midhurst. Pupils have the opportunity to learn and play polo with professional qualified instructors on experienced polo ponies. Currently the School has a team of eight players in their first season and they are looking forward to their first Chukka against other schools.

Riding lessons for our Junior School riders are offered weekly during term time at a local approved riding school. Horsemanship Club meets alternate Wednesday lunchtimes at the Junior School for those pupils who wish to learn more and share their own knowledge about all things equestrian.  Boarders at the School are also able to ride weekly throughout the term making use of the riding school’s all-weather indoor arena.

The School has an enthusiastic team of approximately 20 horse owners ranging from 8 - 18 years old. The team welcomes riders of all abilities from complete novice to experienced riders and supports the girls in their individual equestrian achievements. Membership to the NSEA (National Schools Equestrian Association) is provided by the School to enable the team to represent the School at NSEA events as individual and team entrants. The School funds a number of these entries each year.

Information and updates on the School’s riders regularly feature in the weekly Newsletter and on the Latest News section of the website.

School’s riding team takes part in the Royal Windsor Horse Show

We are very proud of the School’s riding team members Hattie Shaw, Gini and Hayley Misselbrook and Georgia Patrick who represented the School at The Royal Windsor Horse Show on Saturday 12 May. The girls gave an outstanding performance with Hayley and Hattie both achieving good course times; Gini & Georgia followed closely on their heels with valiant efforts on a very big course!  Well done to all the girls, their mounts and parents who provided the transport.

Hattie Shaw was placed 2nd individually jumping 95cm at Merrist Wood and 3rd place with her team (Petersfield Pony Club).  She also achieved 5th place individually in the team events.  Well done, Hattie, and good luck for the rest of the season!
