WINTER WONDERLAND
It was another Royal School day but all of a sudden it started to snow. The snow kept falling and falling…and falling. To begin with it was really fun and a great laugh but it kept on coming! On the first day Anna Kam and Gracie Williams and I watched movies but we decided that it would be fun on the second day to go for a walk with Mrs Pope and her 2 dogs Zoë and Rolo. It was like a winter wonderland on the Heath and as the snow sparkled we walked through the snow with the rest of the boarders. Mrs Lines and Mrs Pope lay in the snow to make angels and that was funny to watch (see photo on page 8). We had drama games and every day was an adventure, but after a while we began to run out of ideas. Then Miss Scott decided to play a game called Sardines (like Hide and Seek) and Elizabeth Timofejeva hid in the room next to Mr Day’s office so we all had to fit in there; it was very hot and very squished and just as we were all about to give up waiting the fire extinguisher fell onto Elizabeth’s foot as she was in the corner. Oops! Now we really didn’t want to go back to school – we were having too much fun as anything can happen on a snow day. It was great fun making an igloo with Mr and Mrs Pope, Miss Scott and the new gappie Erin and we even sang songs inside as it was warmer and quite cosy! Emily our other new gap was always warm as she was busy with the boarders who preferred to stay in Stoatley. We would like to thank all the teachers and house staff who looked after us.
The BBQ
It was a miserable, windy, snowy night that Dudley, the chef, and his friend Big Tim chose for the boarders to go outside to have a snow BBQ. It was perishing cold but it was nice to warm up by the fires outside and afterwards in Stoatley Hall. As we queued up we could smell the hot sausages sizzle away and hear the fire crackling on the three barbeques. We sat down on snow seats which had been made for us by the Maintenance men. It was very cold but we had cardboard under us. We warmed up by cooking marshmallows on the embers. Then a big bang made us jump as fire works flew up into the snowy air. Thank you to the chefs who came outside to cook for us!! It was a fantastic day!!
The Final Days
The final days of the snow were great! We had long fun walks with Mrs Pope and Ms Hatch and their loveable dogs Zoë, Rolo and Wookie. We finished the igloo. It was a great experience building the igloo and at the end of the day Miss Scott, Anna Kam, Gracie Williams and I had a massive snowball fight. Miss Scott thinks she won but we know better!
