SOCIALS WITH WORTH SCHOOL
On 28th November a group of Sixth Formers set off to Worth School for the much awaited social. We left on the coach from Kilmorey just after 5.45pm. During the trip there the rain poured down, making the majority of us wish we were wearing some nice, warm, comfy clothes and sitting in front of a fire watching X Factor, instead of sitting on a coach wearing the not quite so warm, not quite so comfy party clothes that we had all donned. When we finally got there at 7pm we entered the main building, only to be told that we were in the wrong building, meaning that, yes, we had to brave the wind and rain and walk a few hundred metres to another building where the social was being held. Fortunately, this walk wasn’t quite so awful for me, due to the fact that I was the only one wearing boots - my hair did get wet and my make-up smudged a little but I wasn’t wearing pumps or towering high-heeled shoes, which meant my feet weren’t soaked and I was much better off than the majority of the other girls! Once inside the building we found that we were the first girls to arrive, so had to wait around for a bit. After a while more boys and girls started trickling in, all looking a bit dishevelled from their walk in the rain. One of the Worth teachers then proceeded to tell us the schedule for the evening. Once in the dining room we all sat down at tables and met several new people. After a lovely supper and a couple of glasses of wine, everyone was ready for some dancing. We left the main building again and had to brave the rain once more but we all dried off quickly and warmed up as soon as the music started blasting from the speakers. Soon everyone was dancing and having a jolly good time. The evening was a success and it was lovely to catch up with some of the boys we had met at our first social in Year 9 and meet new boys. Before the social we had all been slightly wary of the fact that there were other girls’ schools going, However, they were really friendly and it was a good chance to meet new people. It was a thoroughly enjoyable evening and we all appreciate the work that was involved beforehand, especially chasing us up for our permission slips as this time we were allowed a couple of glasses wine! I would like to thank the teachers who took us, Miss Plane and Miss Balsdon, when they could have been at home watching X Factor!!! Report by Frederika Arrowsmith.
Last Saturday the Year 9s had a social with the boys from Worth School. It took place in Kilmorey Hall and the decorations and food were very good. There was dancing and fun games and we all had a fantastic time.
The Year 10 girls also enjoyed a social with Worth boys a few weeks ago. They had an enjoyable evening in Hindhead Court and danced all evening. The event was organised extremely efficiently by the Young Enterprise team and our thanks go to all the staff who have given up their evenings to attend the various socials this term.
