RICHARD HUISH TRIP
On Friday, 29th January eight students from Years 10 and 11 went with Mrs Davies to a conference in London at a Quaker meeting place. Our schedule was as follows: Truth in Mathematics, Nanotechnology, Break, Business and environmental issues, Evolutionary Psychology, Lunch and the Afternoon Debate: Abortion and the right of the embryo. We took the train up to London and then took the underground to the conference venue. All of the speeches were very enjoyable and we found out lots of interesting things that we didn’t know. For example, how nature is based on the Fibonacci sequence and how through nanotechnology a vehicle for the delivery of cancer drugs has been discovered. After lunch there was a debate on whether abortion should be freely available. The two speakers both made their points and then they opened it up to the floor for a debate. We then had to vote for the opinion with which we agreed. The day was very interesting and we would like to say thank you to Mrs Davies for taking us. Report by Tegan Louw.
