INFORMAL CONCERT
On Thursday, 11th February, students performed in the first Informal Concert of 2010. The concert series is designed to give an opportunity for students to perform in a more informal setting. The concert was held in The Recital Room of Highgate and it celebrated ongoing work of students of a variety of ages. The concert opened with Kirstie Scott (Year 11) singing Can’t Help Loving that Man from Showboat, followed by Alice Simmonds’s (Year 7) first public performance on oboe with Hot Chilli. Julia Peters (Year 10) continued the musicals theme with a performance of Think of Me from Phantom of the Opera. Anna Kam (Year 8) then performed O mio babbino caro from Gianni Schicchi on the violin in preparation for her ABRSM Grade Three examination later this term. Eleanor Kingston (Year 7) once again, picked up the musicals theme with her first Royal School solo public performance; she sang Feed the Birds from Mary Poppins. The concert’s finale was Meredith Leston’s (Year 11) excellent rendition of Far from the Home I Love taken from Fiddler on the Roof. Congratulations and thanks go to all who took part. The evening was well supported by parents, friends and members of staff.
The next Informal Concert is on Thursday 11th March at 6.30 pm in Highgate.
