- Junior School
We aim to make school exciting: learning is not confined to the classroom and play takes many forms. Some children work best when work is presented visually, others prefer to learn by doing. Some find sport relaxing, others enjoy reading, Suduko, playing a musical instrument or simply running about outside.
By getting to know our children really well we can create a learning environment which is tailored to their needs. As a result, pupils are well-placed to fulfil their potential.
- Academic focus that combines challenge and support
- A flexible and differentiated approach to learning that allows children to work at a pace appropriate to their ability
Diamond teaching model:
Our diamond teaching model means we have co-educational Reception, Prep 1 and Prep 2 classes and separately taught Prep 3 to Prep 6 classes. The diamond model takes into account the different developmental stages of girls and boys and acknowledges the advantages of single-sex teaching from 7 – 16 years. Shared playtimes, meal times and extra-curricular activities ensure that pupils enjoy integration...just not at the expense of their education!
Added value:
- A Thinking Skills programme which incorporates the use of ‘Challenge Boxes’. The Challenge Boxes are resources and activities which can be used to enhance reasoning ability, encourage intellectual curiosity and promote concentration, persistence and determination in children of all academic abilities, including the Gifted and Talented.
- A varied programme of clubs and activities including Drama and Music. Specialist peripatetic teachers are available to lead pupils through the LAMDA and Associated Board examinations as required. Other extra-curricular opportunities may include Art & Craft, Ballet, Choir, Current Affairs, Gym and Horseriding.
- The busy Extended Day facilities allow parents flexibility with drop off and pick up times and include supervised prep time or play with breakfast in the morning and a snack after school.
