There is lots to do outside the classroom with clubs and activities running before school, at lunchtime, after school and at weekends. The programme changes every term so there is plenty of opportunity to try something new.

Junior School:

Sample: Speech and drama, rounders, thinking skills, orchestra, What on Earth, tennis, modern dance, horsemanship, riding, gymnastics, ballet, choir, running club, art and craft and festive cookery.

Senior School:

Sample: Lacrosse, netball, tennis, athletics, jewellery making, ensemble, art and textiles, jazz dance, choir, Young Enterprise, swimming, ballet, karate, Duke of Edinburgh, debating and polo.

As well as the extra-curricular clubs there are many activities that enhance our students’ time at School.   These include:

• Trips and visits that support academic subjects, both day and residential, within the UK and abroad including museums, theatres, historical and religious sites and field trips.  Recent visits include The Globe Theatre, the British Museum, St Paul’s Cathedral, WWI Battle Fields, the London Olympic Park and Iceland.

 

• Trips for pleasure and to broaden cultural awareness including London plays, musicals and theme parks.

 

• Trips abroad which sometimes involves student fundraising to pay for all or part of their visit. Prep 6 girls’ Netball tour to the Isle of Wight, Year 10 girls’ Netball/Lacrosse tour to Prague, Senior Girls’ World Challenge Expeditions.

 

• Outdoor activity and adventure trips that include Prep 6’s residential trip to Osmington Bay and Year 8 girls week on Dartmoor.

 

• All Sixth Formers mentoring Year 7 girls from their first day at Senior School. Formal training is given to the older girls by an external agency.

 

• Young Enterprise – “inspiring and equipping young people to learn and succeed through enterprise".

 

• Charitable fundraising for a broad spectrum of local and national charities, recently including Age Concern, Fairtrade, Help for Heroes, Canine Partners, Macmillan Cancer Research, Surrey Air Ambulance and Children in Need.

 

• Duke of Edinburgh award scheme (Bronze, Silver and Gold).

 

• Debating Society taking part in regular local and Surrey competitions.

 

• Termly Inter-house sports, drama and music competitions as well as the House Point Cup.

 

• Drama productions at Senior and Junior Schools which recently included Arabian Nights, Christmas plays and the nativity, Cinders and Macbeth as part of the Shakespeare for Schools Festival.

 

• The biennial Revue – a sell out that now takes place over three nights and involves every student from Prep 5 to Upper Sixth and members of staff!

 

 

 

There are also several ways for parents to become more involved in their child’s school life and the school community in general.  These include parent netball matches, Parent Link meetings, regular lunches with the Headmistress and teaching staff, the Royal School Association and it’s many fundraisers and sociable events including the Summer Fete, Christmas Fayre, Summer Ball, Quiz Nights and Christmas shopping trips.
