- Daycare & Nursery
Sessions:
Children join Daycare from 6 weeks to 2½ years and Nursery at the start of the academic year in which they turn 3, with flexible sessions available from 8.00am to 6.00pm, 51 weeks of the year.
Learning and development:
Each child has a Keyworker and an individual Learning Journey which is shared with parents. Children learn through purposeful planned play activities, differentiated to suit abilities. We work within the EYFS guidelines and have been rated ‘outstanding’ by OFSTED.
Outdoor activities:
Both Daycare and Nursery have their own enclosed gardens with outdoor toys appropriate to the age of the children and access to the School’s extensive grounds including 22 acres of lawn and woodland and sports facilities. Most days the children are able to go out in either buggies or hand in hand to go on a nature ramble, kick a ball or just run around enjoying the fresh air.
Weekly events:
The children enjoy weekly cookery activities, messy play, reading and music and movement sessions. Older children have more structured educational sessions, visit the school library and are taught beginners' French through rhymes and songs. Throughout the year the children are involved with Junior School events, which include Harvest assembly, Nativity, Chinese New Year celebrations, Easter Bonnet parade and Sports Day, to which parents are invited.
Progression to Reception:
All children are welcome to take part in our familiarisation sessions which begin in the spring term of Nursery 2. Our new diamond teaching model means boys and girls progress together into our Reception class.
