Applications to the School are not restricted to September entry. Applicants wishing to enter outside the main entry points or who are unable to attend on key dates (for example, because they are applying from overseas) should contact the Admissions Coordinator for assistance. A pupil transferring from one GSA School to another, other than at 11+ and 13+, may be accepted solely on a report from the current Head.
11+ (Year 7 entry) - internal and external applicants – Registrations for Year 7 entry are capped at 100 boys and 100 girls. All applicants are invited to meet the Head at interview.

Taster day – applicants spend a day in School with their peers to familiarise themselves with the learning environment. A computer-based assessment is incorporated into the Taster Day. References are requested from each pupil’s current school. |

11+ assessments (The Royal School’s own papers in English and Mathematics) and an interview with the Head. Academic scholarships may be awarded on the basis of performance in the written papers. |

13+ (Year 9 entry) - external applicants
Applicants are invited to meet the Head in advance and, in consultation with their current School, 13+ applicants may choose the most appropriate admissions route from the two options below:
Option 1 – 13+ entry for pupils sitting Common Entrance examinations

Pre-testing at 11+: The Royal School’s own assessments in English and Mathematics in addition to a computer-based assessment and an interview with the Head (OR Pre-testing at 13+: The Royal School’s own assessments in English, Mathematics, Science and French or Spanish and an interview with the Head). In either case, references are requested from each pupil’s current school prior to assessment and letters of offer are issued to successful applicants conditional upon satisfactory results in Common Entrance Examinations at 13+. Applicants wishing to be considered for Academic Scholarships must sit The Royal School’s 13+ assessments. |
