- Why the Royal?
We are a mixed ability, non selective school providing an education that results in confident, independent, adventurous children whose qualities and qualifications enable them to excel.
Our environment delivers results:
In 2013, 73% of the students at The Royal School sat A levels in the Sciences and Maths, all achieving the grades required by their chosen university. However, the creative subjects were equally well represented this year, including Music, Drama and Photography.
This year's GCSE results are the best ever, with over half of all results achieving the coveted A* and A grades including 22.9% A* grades compared to 6.8% in the country as a whole.
How we do achieve such great results when our intake is mixed ability?:
The route to healthy self-esteem is through personal success and recognition, whether this occurs in the classroom, on the sports field, or in social service, art, music or drama. Our excellent teaching, differentiated to suit all abilities, combined with a busy extra-curricular programme that offers the opportunity for personal fulfilment, results in confident, engaged learners.
Best of both worlds:
We are the first school in Surrey to follow the diamond teaching model. We remain fully committed to single sex education in the years where it has been proven that children learn better in a single sex environment whilst benefiting from the more social aspects of a varied extra-curricular programme. The diamond model is the best of both worlds.
Because we are a boarding school we have the flexibility to offer busy families the options of breakfast and supper clubs, supervised prep and even overnight stays – once a week, once a term or just once a year.
