DAYCARE
The Royal School’s Daycare Department provides care for children aged 6 weeks - 2 years. The School’s affirmative ethos permeates the department to provide a secure foundation for learning and development opportunities which are planned around the needs and interests of each individual child. NURSERY
Children from 2 – 4 years are taught in differentiated groups within Nursery 1 and Nursery 2. The children learn through purposeful planned play activities and the flexible structure of the department allows pupils to work at a pace appropriate to their abilities as they progress through the EYFS framework. The fluidity offered by the Nursery ensures that a child can begin more advanced work when he / she is ready to do so. Early registration is advised to reserve a place on the waiting list. PRE-PREP
Children from 4 - 7 years are taught in differentiated groups within the Pre-Prep department. We welcomed boys and girls into the Reception Class in September 2011. In September 2013, girls and boys will be taught together throughout the Pre-Prep department (Reception, Prep 1 and Prep 2). READ MORE...
PREP
Children from 8 - 11 years comprise the Prep department. Within each class, work is differentiated to meet the differing needs of children. From September 2014, girls and boys in Prep 3 upwards will be taught separately for core subjects in single-sex teaching groups. Children will come together at breaktime and lunchtime to socialise and enjoy extra-curricular activities. READ MORE...
SENIOR
Pupils are normally selected at 11+ or 13+ and are expected to achieve the requisite academic standard to enable them to obtain at least 5 good GCSE passes and study successfully for A levels in the Sixth Form. It is usual for pupils from The Royal Junior School to proceed to the Senior School. The next entrance paper day for Year 7 and Year 9 entry is scheduled for Saturday 11 January 2014.
SIXTH FORM
Nelson House – Sixth Form at The Royal School – offers continuity, development and focus through small pastoral and teaching groups and a varied extra-curricular programme. Great care is taken to ensure that those to whom places are offered are likely to profit from all that The Royal School has to offer.
