House System

The Royal School’s House system is designed to provide pupils with a group identity distinct from their form identity and to encourage boys and girls to mix with those older and younger.

Once you move into the Sixth Form, you will be expected to take on a more responsible role within your House, either in a formal capacity as House Captain or Deputy, or in supporting your peers in Interhouse competitions.

We actively encourage Sixth Formers to use their own initiative in devising new and interesting activities in order to maintain the Houses as a flourishing part of School life. There are plenty of opportunities to develop leadership and teamwork skills in a variety of different ways from leading sports teams to arranging and managing inter-House events and competitions including music, drama, fundraising, debating and outdoor pursuits.

The four Houses are named after the Royal households:

  • Balmoral (red)
  • Buckingham (blue)
  • Sandringham (yellow)
  • Windsor (green)

Each student wears their House colour as sports kit.

New students are allocated to one of four Houses and remain in their Houses for the duration of their time at School.  Siblings are normally allocated to the same House.
