- Boarding
Whether girls choose to flexi, weekly or full board they will see a whole different side to school life!
Making choices that matter and taking responsibility:
Whilst there is definitely structure within the school day, as a boarder girls will need to make choices about how they spend their free time, what activities and opportunities to take and how to create a reasonable balance between work and play. Girls make decisions that have a direct impact on the things they learn and the life they lead at The Royal School.
Being in an environment where trying new things is encouraged:
Girls are a part of a community where lots of people will also be trying new things; meeting new types of people, finding a place in a new community, learning new skills and subjects and achieving a high academic standard. With every challenge that boarding at school presents, girls learn more about themselves and become a little bit more comfortable living away from home.
Having a lot of fun and forming lasting friendships:
Boarding school can also be a lot of fun. Imagine living in a house with your best friends! It is common at The Royal School for dorm mates to become friends for life and a valuable support network.
Having a wide range of friends:
The Royal School actively aims to recruit students from a variety of geographic, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds. At The Royal School, girls are exposed to a relatively wide range of individuals and cultures.
There are lots of things going on at weekends and these activities are open to day pupils too, space permitting:
Saturdays:
- Trips to London, Guildford, Bath, Brighton, Winchester and many more
- Adventure parks and theatre trips
- Laser Quest, swimming, bowling and other activities
- Formal occasions and discos
Sundays:
- Family lunch and religious worship, if you wish
- Quiet time for study, reading, music practice
- Yoga, badminton and a variety of seasonal and craft activities
Although the School follows the Diamond teaching model in the classroom and for extra-curricular activities, at this time, we are unable to offer boarding to boys.
